CANADA DAY CELEBRATIONS 2017

What a time to be alive, Canada turns 150 years old this July 1st and we’ve never seen the country look so good. A plethora of celebrations are planned spanning the entire length of the year in all corners of the country. Here are just a few that are sure to be the most memorable.

OTTAWA 
Our nations capitol is most definitely going to be one of the most popular celebration destinations this year. There are a flurry of free events and parties all year long, most notably at the Shaw Centre in partnership with CIBC. On July 1st join your fellow Canadians for a night of exquisite Canadian cuisine and watch the enormous fire works display through the Shaw Center’s glass walls and ceiling.

VANCOUVER
One of the most aesthetically pleasing provinces will host a 9 day festival in Larwill Park, a 2.7 acre space that will eventually be home to The Vancouver Art Gallery. The much anticipated festival dubbed ‘The Drum is Calling’ will feature acts from Canadian culture, specifically Native American and Aboriginal  cultures and will take place July 22-30th.

TORONTO
The Waterfront and Redpath are teaming up to bring you free events starting July 1st- 3rd to honour Canada on this monumentuos birthday. Enjoy a long stroll and take in all of the sights and sounds that Toronto and Lake Ontario have to offer. More information on this three day event will be provided soon on toronto.ca.

MONTREAL
Old Port in Montreal is putting on a show for the ages this year. Their free Canada day celebrations include a full  day of activities on July 1st including; food trucks, gun salutes, musical performances, blow up jumpers for kids, street dancing and fireworks to cap off the night. They will also serve a massive birthday cake at 12:30 pm with an estimated 2,500 slices of cake for their guests.
Montreal’s annual Canada Day parade will also make its way through the streets of Old Port beginning at 11 am.

CANADA DAY : RED & WHITE PARTIES FROM AURA EFFECT

Saturday, July 1^st 2017 marks our Nation’s 150^th birthday! We’re looking good and feeling even better about this momentous occasion which is why Aura Effect is offering up the top ways to throw the most envious RED & WHITE Canada Day parties this country has even seen.

Our Nation’s colours will undoubtedly be proudly on display everywhere you look this summer but how can you parlay that into party ideas? Below are ways to rep your red and white this July 1^st.

GAMES
The key to a successful party is keeping your guests entertained while maintaining a high energy atmosphere. Aura Effect suggests keeping your guests active while participating in team games.  This can include everything from tug of war to water balloon fights, Canadian themed scavenger hunts and if your party space allows, relay races and track and field activities. Divide your teams by the colours; red and white, provinces and territories or even Liberals vs. Conservatives.

LIGHTING
We have a feeling Canada day parties this year will go well into the evening and even the next morning so if your shindig is outside, keep the party going and the lighting on point with Aura effect’s LED glow furniture and décor. While Aura Effect knows Canadians will be partying hard come July 1^st, it’s our responsibility to ensure our guests drink responsibly and under no circumstances, drive after drinking. Eliminate these concerns by collecting car keys at the beginning of your soiree and placing them somewhere secure. Plan ahead by posting multiple taxi service numbers by the exit and provide a Wi-Fi password for guests to order an Uber at the end of the night.
